Civil Engineer – Luxury Resort Development, Caribbean

About the role

Gatesource HR is recruiting an experienced, hands-on Civil Engineer for a landmark luxury hotel and resort project in the Caribbean. The engineer leads the structural and infrastructural work, making sure construction meets high standards of safety, resilience, quality and environmental sustainability in a tropical island setting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate civil and structural works such as site grading, drainage, roadworks, utilities, foundations and reinforced concrete structures, adapted for hurricanes, seismic activity and coastal conditions.
• Review technical drawings, calculations and contractor submissions for compliance and quality.
• Oversee on-site construction so it follows approved plans, specifications, schedules, safety standards and local regulations, and resolve technical issues proactively.
• Manage procurement coordination and material delivery schedules in an island logistics environment, and coordinate local labour teams and subcontractors.
• Anticipate and mitigate delays caused by weather, transport or supply chain constraints.
• Implement erosion control and environmentally responsible construction, supporting sustainable infrastructure aligned with the project's eco-luxury vision.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline; PE license or equivalent preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in civil construction or infrastructure projects.
• Previous experience in hospitality, resort, island or tropical/coastal projects is highly desirable.
• Practical, solutions-oriented approach, able to adapt to changing site and weather conditions, with strong organisation and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete structures, drainage systems, coastal engineering and resilient design principles.
